American pancakes in Amsterdam

This post provides pictures to accompany the transcript of the My Mate In… podcast episode: 21. Side Quest x Amsterdam x Moak.

I’m Jaz and the My Mate In… podcast and blog are all about good places to have a drink or find some food. This is another Side Quest, and that means it’s just me today talking to you about about a place that I found on my own adventures.

Today, I wanna talk about a place that’s in Amsterdam and that has a hip hop throwback vibe.

Moak is an American style pancake place open for breakfast, brunch and lunch but they don’t take reservations and that’s because it’s pretty much always busy. Expect a lineup, it’s well worth it. There are a couple of Moaks in The Netherlands. You’ll find two in Amsterdam and one in Utrecht, and the one that we tried was in the city center.

The branding of this place is really cool. It’s like this blue / pink kind of contrasting colours, that really pop. The menu is pretty cool. There’s a mix of American style pancakes with a mix of sweet, fruity, delicious maple syrup. They also have some more savoury pancakes as well. They focus on, creating good food, doing really good juices, and just providing a cool vibe. And throughout the venue, there’s images of notable rappers from New York. It does have a really relaxed, cool vibe.

You can also get a glass of bubbly for your brunch. And, of course, they’ve got a mix of coffees, teas, and iced coffees.

The pancakes that we got were three or four levels stacked. There was Greek yogurt, decorative flowers, passion fruit, fig, lots of different berries, granola sprinkled over the top, and then you add your syrup to taste as well.

I think after a night out in Amsterdam, this is a good brunch for the next day.

Like most places in Amsterdam, there are a number of great museums close by. Some of the ones that you can check out that are close to Moak are the Rembrandt House Museum and the Jewish History Museum.

If you’re in Amsterdam, you should check it out. Delicious pancakes and really chill vibes. Hope you enjoy. All the best.

Here are some pictures from my adventures around Moak.

If you pop over to Belgium from The Netherlands, and want to complement your pancakes with waffles, I got you:
