Doing research that is trauma-informed
Abstract
This session will be useful for researchers working on topics that involve trauma exposure or reactions, mental health more broadly or where the population of focus is a group that, compared to the general population and regardless of the topic area, is more likely to have been exposed to trauma.
Participants of this session will come away with:
- Understanding of what trauma-informed research is
- Appreciation of the value of considering trauma throughout the research process, from planning through to reporting findings
- Knowledge of high-level principles of trauma-informed research practices to apply within projects
- Practical experience applying and workshopping principles of trauma-informed research practices to real-world examples
- Awareness of resources available to continue independent learning about trauma-informed research practices.
